Welcome to Ash Class 2025!
We have had a lovely start to the term, getting to know each other and sharing our holiday news.
We have made our class charter, which sets out our rules for the classroom and we have worked in RHSE on using good manners, being kind and helping each other to be happy.
We are all looking forward to an enjoyable year together and learning lots of new and interesting things.
Electricity
In Autumn 1 we learnt how to create a circuit to light a bulb.
We then explored how to make a switch and what effect adding another bulb or battery would have on our circuit or brightness of the bulb.
We ended the term by programming a microbit within a circuit, to switch the bulb on and off!
Maths Week in Ash Class
This week we have been learning about the area and perimeter of shapes.
We have explored using equipment to create different shapes with a specified perimeter and then working out the area.
We have walked around different areas of school to count their perimeters.
We have recorded our ideas on squared paper and measured carefully to get accurate answers.
We finished the week by designing our own playgrounds using given area measurements for the whole thing and each piece of equipment inside it.
Happy new year!
Please see the spring term newsletter for Ash Class which outlines our topics for this term.
Science Week in Ash Class
We learnt about the parts of the digestive system and made a representation of it using lots of different equipment.
At the science fair, children from other classes enjoyed exploring how the balls passed through the different parts.
Book Week in Ash Class
We had great fun wearing our costumes on Thursday. There were so many adjectives represented in imaginative and creative ways.
Ash Class visit to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
Last week, Ash class went to Portsmouth to visit the Mary Rose Exhibition.
After a very long coach journey, we arrived and we walked over to the education centre where we enjoyed seeing lots of artefacts and hearing about the story of the Mary Rose.
We had time to visit the museum, the cinema and see the wreck of the Mary Rose ship. We all enjoyed the day and learnt a lot of facts.
