The winter uniform is a navy sweatshirt or cardigan with Bartons logo and a white polo-shirt. Children should wear the jumper or cardigan that display the school logo. The white polo shirts are available with the school logo on but alternatively, children can wear a generic plain white polo shirt from a supermarket or high street brand.
Girls should wear a grey school skirt or grey school trousers with plain white socks or plain grey tights. Leggings are not part of the the school uniform and should not be worn. School skirts and trousers can be bought from any shop or supermarket.
Boys should wear grey school trousers with plain grey or black ankle socks. These can be bought from any shop or supermarket.
During the summer months girls can wear blue-white checked cotton school dresses and the boys grey school style shorts. These can be bought from any shop or supermarket.
Sensible flat black school shoes or girls sandals (in the summer) with socks should be worn. No flip flops, crocs or similar flimsy style of shoe are allowed.
Trainers and fashion boots are not appropriate for school and should not be worn.
The P.E kit consists of a House T-shirt (red, blue, green and yellow) with the school logo on and House name. Each pupil will belong to a school House and parents will be told which one to purchase. Dark coloured sports shorts and trainers are also necessary for P.E lessons. There is also an optional navy hoodie available with the school logo on it to wear for P.E and outdoors.
For any families in receipt of the Pupil Premium, a voucher towards the costs of uniform can be requested at the school office. This can be redeemed at JW Sports in Bognor High Street. For any families who are struggling to purchase uniform then we encourage you to pop into the school office and talk to us. All enquiries are dealt with sensitively and discretely. Throughout the year, second-hand uniform is available for when a pupil might need some and there are regular second-hand tables of clothes for parents/carers to take free of charge.
Appropriate and neat hair styles are required for children at Bartons. No extreme styles or hair cuts including Mohawk styles, shaved patterns into the hair or shaved lines are allowed. Also natural hair colours are also a requirement.
Hair longer than chin length should be tied back at all times.
Wearing jewellery to school is discouraged but if children have their ears pierced then only plain studs should be worn. Hoops and other types of earrings should not be worn for health and safety reasons. All jewellery must be removed during P.E lessons. Covering earrings with tape is not appropriate and so earrings must be removed. We suggest that earrings are removed in the morning, before school and are then put back in at home, after school.
The best time for ears to be pierced is at the beginning of the school summer holidays so that there is plenty of time for them to heal before the autumn start in September.
Whilst an ordinary wrist watch is acceptable for school, Apple Watches (and similar kinds) are not allowed to be worn to school. This also includes Fit Bits and should not be worn to school. Wrist watches should be removed for P.E lessons.
We want our children to look smart and be proud of wearing their uniform for Bartons Primary School.
