Reading Skills Cards
We have introduced a new set of Reading Skills cards, which focus on the curriculum objectives for KS1 and KS2. We have now updated these and include a new set of skills cards for Year R.

Please use them when reading with your children: ask them questions and get them to discuss their book with you! This will improve their understanding but also promote a love of reading.

Reading Skills cards are linked below:
Reading @ Bartons
The book lists created for the children last year went down a storm. So here is a selection of books to meet all abilities and reading tastes. The books this year have been updated to include texts from a diverse range of authors and include a diverse range of main characters.
Feel free to browse books from other lists if you wish. You will be sure to find some excellent choices from a range of authors!

Schools Library Service
Each term we work with the West Sussex library service to refresh a range of books in our school library.
We receive 100 books aimed at all children across the school including; picture books, non-fiction and fiction text types.

These books are located at the entrance of the library in the book boxes by the tables. Feel free to browse the selection and take one to read alongside your AR book.
